Highland Park Poetry welcomes Susen B. James & Jane Richards.
Susen James was born, so they say, on a full moon eclipse. Maybe that explains her oddness. She writes poetry & lies because she fears drifting into memoir - truthful but incomplete. When not writing, Susen can be found wandering cemeteries & woodlands or teaching her favorite students at Columbia College in Chicago Poetry Writing, Mythology & Fantasy Literature.
Jane Richards’ poetry has appeared in several journals and anthologies, and has been twice nominated for the Pushcart Prize. Her first chapbook, The Feather Variations, was published in 2024. A former piano teacher and social worker, she now pursues her life-long passions for writing, nature and travel. She lives in Spring Grove with her partner and two parrotlets.
Poets may bring up to 3 short poems to share, though HPP reserves the right to reduce the number read to ensure all participants have an opportunity. Come a few minutes early to sign up for the line-up.
*Location* Next door to movie theater. Recommend using Renaissance Place 3-hour free underground parking garage. Stairs in southeast end take you to Second Street or follow signs to movie theater.
There is no cover charge. We hope attendees will support the businesses that support us. Consider seeing a film at Wayfarer Theater before or after.
